OUR GUARANTEE
We guarantee our merchandise to be free of manufacturing defects and will accept any defective item for refund or exchange. All in-store returns/exchanges in accordance with this policy require a government-issued ID and an original receipt to receive cash/check refund. Returns without an original receipt also always require a government-issued ID. And don't forget: we always offer free return shipping on jeans.
WITHIN 60 DAYS OF ORIGINAL PURCHASE:
Madewell gladly accepts returns of unworn, unwashed, undamaged or defective merchandise for full refund. Refunds must be accompanied by the original receipt and will be made in the form of the original payment. If the original receipt is unavailable, we'll make an exchange or issue a merchandise credit based on the current selling price.
AFTER 60 DAYS OF ORIGINAL PURCHASE:
Madewell will gladly make an exchange or issue a merchandise credit for the price at the time of sale (with original receipt) or for the current selling price (without original receipt).
FINAL SALE ITEMS:
Please note that all vintage items are final sale.
PRICE ADJUSTMENT:
Madewell gladly honors a one-time price adjustment on full-price merchandise within seven days of the retail purchase or mail-order ship date if accompanied by the original receipt. Items not purchased at full price are ineligible for price adjustments.

RETURN OR EXCHANGE AN ITEM IN OUR RETAIL STORES:
For your convenience, catalog and Internet purchases may be returned to any Madewell retail store for immediate credit. Please note our policy as stated above applies to these purchases. Madewell retail stores can only accept returns of items that were purchased at a Madewell retail location or through the Internet.

RETURN OR EXCHANGE AN ITEM BY MAIL:
Madewell uses SmartLabel by Newgistics to make your return process easy:
- Service is available in the contiguous United States only.
- Your packing slip will include a prepaid, preaddressed return label.
- No postage is required; the cost of return shipping will be deducted from your refund (one item $5.95, two or more items $7.50).
- Drop your package in the US mail.
You can also send the item back to us at the address below using any other traceable method. Once we receive your package, we will promptly exchange or refund it as you instruct. There's no additional shipping and handling charges on exchanges; we'll just ask that you pay for the return postage. Our return address is:
If you do not have the packing slip, please include the following information with your return:
- Your name and billing address.
- The name, address and zip code of the person who placed the order, if it was a gift.
- The original purchase price and approximate date of the purchase.
- The item number of the merchandise, if available.
