Penfield® Hazelton Jacket

Penfield® Hazelton Jacket is rated 2.8 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice jacket minus the hood I needed a spring rain jacket so I ordered this online. The jacket itself is good quality and l like the details like an inside zip pocket and draw string cords. It fits true to size. My only problem is the hood flaps. They are enormous! They stick out awkwardly so I figured out a way to unbutton the hood at either side and tuck the flaps under. The hood is huge as well, but I don't mind that so much since it offers better protection against the rain. Overall a good jacket but I think Penfield should rethink the design of the hood flaps.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not Worth It I decided to write another review, because I returned the parka. It is simply not worth it. More of a glorified shirt than anything. I shouldn't have to figure out how to wear a garment. The hood flaps are ridiculous, the sleeves are so short, and there's an inner pocket which sticks out from the inside of the jacket which is so frustrating (making it impossible to wear the jacket open). The material, quality, color, and leather details really make up for many of these issues, but it's simply not worth it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Wires in coat a problem To be fair, it's been raining constantly in NYC, and I was wearing this coat several times a week. Still, you would think that a coat like this SHOULD withstand that kind of wear for more than a month, right? It is a great looking coat and doesn't overwhelm even though I am short (5'). The hood and pockets all have this bendable wire at the edge. This is great because you can shape the hood to provide comfort / coverage. After five weeks, though, the end of one of the wires in the pocket poked through the fabric. This is a SHARP wire that can leave a cut. I took the coat back and had it switched out for another (because I did love the way the coat fits and looks). One week later, the wire was poking through on the hood. I returned it for store credit, and am now newly on the search for a coat right in the middle of another week of rain. Alas.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Impressed - YET I ordered this as I am a spectator at events outside and this Spring has been exceptionally rainy. I got this jacket after the season has ended so I cant speculate on the "dryness" factor which is why I purchased it. BUT - some things that need mentioning are the shortness in arm length; the huge hood and very unusual wiring that is sewn into hood and pocket edges - not sure what the purpose of that wiring is - it can take an odd shape if pushed around. I will keep it for a lil bit and ponder keeping or returning - really need to have a good downpour to convince me one way or the other! Despite these negs, it does look good on - slimmer than the model in pic- 5'7 and 115 and ordered the XS
