HUMANS WE HEART: CHRISTOPHER GANDSY, FOUNDER OF DALEVIEW BISCUITS AND BEER
Hi Christopher! Mind if we start with a few getting-to-know-you questions?
Coffee order: Espresso with a shot of seltzer water
Books on your nightstand:
Albums/playlists/podcasts in your earbuds:
A lot of Rage Against the Machine
Were brewing and biscuit-making always in your plans?
Brewing and biscuits were not the original plan. I actually envisioned myself teaching high school orchestra. But the journey all started with a Mr. Brew Kit I received for Father’s Day approximately 100 years ago.
Talk about a life-changing gift! But on a less celebratory note, the past year or so has been so tough for small businesses and restaurants—how have you and the team at DaleView been getting through? As a team, we kept an open line of communication and were honest about the state of the business. We had a positive outlook and believed better days were coming, that this tough spot was only a bump in the road.
What are you most excited about on the menu right now?
I’m looking forward to the warmer months when we bring back the fried tomato and pimento cheese biscuit.
Sounds delicious. What’s your favorite way to unwind when you have down time?
I love to play my double bass.
And finally, since this is our Humans We Heart series, is there someone you admire that you’d like to shout out here?
My wife, Kisha Edwards-Gandsy.
Thanks so much, Christopher! Try his beer and biscuits for yourself right here, plus get to know more people we admire.
