I haven't washed these yet. I'm afraid to after reading the other reviews. But they are very nice right now and I like them a lot. I found that I have to size up in the skinny skinnies to avoid the tightness I don't like on my calves. I wish there was more selection in the Rail Straights--my fave.

They do not bag out on the butt or in the waist. They are comfortable all day long and look great. The black is truly black and not faded.

Fit beautifully and feel like they will last forever. You just have to re-dye them every few months like most black jeans. All black dye fades. Get some soda ash dye fixer and some Procion mx dye or whatever and DIY.

Rated 4 out of 5 by rozzypanst Awesome fit, terrible wash
I LOVE these jeans... they are so comfortable, flattering fit... love. But after the 1st wash they faded so much they look years old. I except some fade in black jeans, but the fade after just one wash was drastic. I have just accepted this, and decided they look "worn in" but I would have much preferred they hold on to some color longer... I waited a month beofre washing them just because I had read the reviews about fading... and it totally happened.. Bummer.

Jeans look positively fantastic on, my boyfriend always comments on them whenever I wear them, calling them his "favorite jeans." And honestly, they're my favorite jeans too. That is, until about the thirdish wash when the lovely "black frost" color fades to just "frost" and the beautiful black seems to be lost forever..
I have two pairs of these jeans, exact same issue with both. I don't know what Madewell is doing with their dyes but they need to do better because I've had cheaper jeans that keep their color for YEARS no matter how many washes occur.
Fit-wise, however--these jeans are everything a curvy girl dreams of; they cover my (ample) behind, they stretch to fit my (athletic) thighs, and (as a 5'10'' amazon) they even have extended inseam choices. I love these jeans still and will wear them because they look superb (and don't bag out in the knees), but the faded color is thoroughly disappointing. Now, as for whether or not that's a deal-breaker--well, I have yet to decide.

I still wear these jeans a lot, but I would have to echo the statements of the other commenters who were disappointed with how they washed! Mine also faded a TON after one wash. They no longer dress up very well.

Wish I would have read the reviews before purchasing in the store. the black faded after the first wash, and just keeps fading after every wash (which i try to keep infrequent). bummed, they are by far the most comfortable jeans I own.

Fit and style are fantastic but quality issues make this a disappointment. Agreed with the other reviews regarding the wash - it only takes a few home washes to completely change the look of this jean from true black to worn in greyish. My pair also ripped at the inner thigh after only a few months of regular wear. Really disappointed in the quality - I expect much more from Madewell, especially with their recent denim relaunch and focus on denim fit & quality.

I LOVED these jeans. They fit great, looked awesome, and were really comfortable. However, I was disappointed that they faded quickly (2 washes) and madewell didn't provide alternative washing instructions. Additionally, after a couple months of wear (3 times per week, give or take), they ripped on the inside of the thigh because the material is so thin. This isn't normally a problem I have with jeans as I have taken good care of my jeans and had most pairs for 1-2 years. I was bummed that I paid a lot for such a poor quality product. They look cute, but I wouldn't recommend them.

My problem with most jeans is that they tend to bag around the knees after wear for a prolonged period of time, and I was a bit disappointed that these did the same also. I also had a problem with the fading. After three washes, it was longer the initial black that I came to love with these jeans, and it almost looks like i just lint on them the entire time. Not worth the price.
