Classic Ex-Boyfriend Shirt in Windowpane Plaid

Classic Ex-Boyfriend Shirt in Windowpane Plaid is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this shirt (I have a few)! : ) I am a big fan of the classic ex-boyfriend shirt. I have a couple of different plaids from last year, and I just bought this one, as well as the white/gray windowpane plaid this year. The shirt does run a little big, but I tuck it in in the front, and it's a super cute look. I also sometimes unbutton the bottom of the shirt and tie it in the front. I tried on the xs in the store, and I would have sized down, but the sleeves are a little too snug/short. If you prefer to wear this shirt untucked, then you may want to size down, as it is a little bit baggy/lacking in shape if untucked or untied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from my new favorite shirt! This has easily become my new favorite shirt. I am about 5 feet and 4.5 inches tall and medium built, and small fits me perfectly, in fact, it is rather comfortably roomy, and yet makes me look slim. The only problem which I have noticed is that the dark color and the texture of the fabric tends to attract lint, and various other fluffy stuff floating around.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Get Your Lint Roller Ready I love this shirt other than the fact that it attracts literally ever fiber floating within a 10 feet of you. Be ready with a lint roller when you wear this one, but even then it just never seems to be completely gone. My shirt will likely attract so much of my dog's fur that I'll eventually end up with just a fur shirt. The fit is slimmer to me and doesn't have the boxy fit as the oversized boyfriend flannels do. I went with XS on this where as the oversized boyfriend I go for XXS (reference: 5'5' 120, 32 bust). The shirt does cover my behind nicely. The material isn't as nice as I hoped it to be...wish it were softer and smoother. I still kept it because I love the look and the fit. I also like that it isn't the typical print of most flannel shirts so I kept it and still love it...lint and all.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Thinner and Kind of Itchy This shirt was more on the cheap side. While I loved the print and the basic colors, it wasn't as soft as many other Madewell flannels and felt a little on the stiff/itchy side. I did not keep this one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad quality fabric I normally love Madewell clothing. I bought this final sale and feel completely ripped off. The shirt looks great, but the minute I put it on I realized it attracts every little piece of lint and hair around. Figured washing it might help, but it was ten times worse. I can't get all the fuzz off of it even by using a lint roller thoroughly. Making something final sale that clearly has this flaw is unethical.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Young Ex Boyfriend? the way this shirt fits is strange indeed. I am just 5' 4" , bust 33" and find the sleeves are too short (I ordered size small). I have other Madewell shirts in small and they fit but the sizing of this one did not conform to my expectations. One would expect a boyfriend style shirt to be somewhat more generously cut. Unless the boyfriend is age 10.I sent the shirt back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the style and fit This is such a handy shirt for the fall. The basic black goes so well with jeans and cords, and I love the windowpane pattern. The white is muted because of the weave, so it's not super bright, which I like. It has a nice thickness and is soft like flannel. Very comfy. After washing and drying it in the dryer, it fits me nicely, a bit oversized (as is the style) and just the right length for my 5'4 smallish frame.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Love the look, not so into the feel Basically, I wear a LOT of black, so finding a more muted kind of plaid black buttondown was a win. But that said... it sheds like crazy - not pilling exactly but just white fuzz I have to lint-roller all the time - and really isn't that soft. For the price I wanted baby-soft flannel, not this cheap and pretty thin shirt. I wear a white long-sleeve t-shirt underneath so that works for me, but it's a very specific outfit. Also, I agree with another reviewer - I'm 5'7", no amazon, but the sleeves are wayyyyy to short for a regular shirt, let alone an oversized fit. Doesn't make any sense, and means I have to wear the sleeves rolled up to feel comfortable in it. But for the style, I kept it. If you want black plaid that isn't aggressive, this is it. It looks good. I recommend it only on sale.
