Flannel Trapeze Shirt in Overcast Plaid

Flannel Trapeze Shirt in Overcast Plaid is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cut wasn't for me I picked this up thinking it would be nice to have a flannel that was a little unique. I ended up with basically a regular flannel with short sleeves. I liked that on someone with relatively short arms, the sleeve length still was a true 3/4 length on me. I didn't like that the sleeves weren't particulary full on me as they are in the product photo. Sizing up would have produced a shirt too full in the body, so I just returned it. It probably looks really great and interesting on lots of others, though.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Meh Ordered this online and it came in the mail today, and I have to say I am disappointed, though not disappointed enough to return it. This shirt is great quality, I love the pattern, and it feels warm and comfortable. The shape, however, I can't decide if I like. I knew that the sleeves would be short, but the shirt is actually quite cropped at the front, which makes it look a little odd, particularly with jeans. That being said, it looks good open over a t-shirt and with leggings. Not exactly what I was looking for, but I'll keep it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Why are the sleeve so short? When I ordered this it had a different, it was something oversized boyshirt. I sized down from my normal medium and got a small because the oversized shirts are usually one size large. I love the fabric, pattern, and even the fit, but the sleeve length is ridiculous. I'm 5'1'', I have short arms, even then the cuffs came to my mid forearm. Which for me, seems pretty silly. It didn't look fashionable, just very awkward unless you rolls the sleeves up all the time, but there didn't seem to be enough fabric in the sleeves to roll them up proper. Also, it seems the construction has gone down, the placket is thin, the shoulders aren't double seemed, all those great details that Madewell shirts so made well. Madewell: why are you doing this to all your classic fits? I want that good old super great fitting shirts back. I don't need new silhouettes the classics were keepers, I bought them because of the details, the great fit and the timeless style. It's all getting too trendy fashiony now.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from trapeze fit? Ok- Madewell, this review is written mostly to you: You make awesome prints on high quality fabric. WHAT IS A "TRAPEZE" FIT?! Why would anyone want to wear a shirt that drags 5 inches in the back and is super short in the front? Especially if it could be a really awesome everyday flannel? WHY!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Comfy. Could be good for someone, but definitely not for me. Everybody is on board about how cute and soft this fabric is and that's my main reason for trying it out, but I find the shape of this shirt to be really confusing and unflattering. On my petite and flat shape it looked more like a maternity-fit item. The sleeves make the whole thing look shrunken, and yet the oversized A-line fit in combination with the box pleat down the back makes me look round like a balloon from every angle. The one saving grace in terms of getting an intentional-looking fit might have been on-point shoulder seams, but this shirt has a drop-shoulder. And the long long back hem hides the one part of my body that isn't flat like a ruler. :\ In my experience the "cherry plaid" colored ex-boyfriend shirt and the Courier shirt are both, in their own ways, much more flattering and memorable iterations of a tomboy-ish patterned shirt. Thankfully though, this fabric and incredibly roomy cut make a pretty comfortable top at the very least.
