runs big, size down
I love this dress. I got it on sale + an extra percentage off, so it was definitely a great bargain. This dress absolutely runs large. I'm 5'10 135 lbs and I usually wear an XS at Madewell, but they only had S so I took it. It's definitely a tad big, but since I'm thin it works. If I had a little more weight on me, I think it would look really boxy and unflattering. I love the bell sleeves, it definitely adds something unique to the dress. While I'm not a huge fan of the buttons (I think they slightly cheapen the look), love everything else about it!

A New Wave dream
This dress is pure wool, has a flattering straight cut. and looks like something Anna Karina would've worn tooling around on Jean-Paul Belmondo's motorbike. What's not to love?
Okay, the buttons gape a bit, so if you're outdoors, the wind runs right up your arms. Annoying, but if it's cold enough to wear a wool dress, it's cold enough to wear a turtleneck underneath, too, so moot point.
The cut is big, as other reviewers have noted, but again, it's a winter dress--you want to be able to add layers. For reference, I'm 5'6", 115 pounds, and got an XS. I could've sized down to an XXS -- my usual size in Madewell dresses -- but I wanted a roomy fit. Also, since it's wool, I'm guessing it'll shrink in the wash.
Only real complain is no pockets. Madewell is usually so good about designing dresses with pockets. Still totally worth the sale price, though.

So Cute!
Just purchased this dress and I love it. I had to go down a size because the XS was a little too baggy on me. The XXS small fit perfectly. The arms are not too long or short and the dress hits right at my knees. I am 5'1 for height reference.

Versatile sweater dress
I love this sweater dress so much that I own it in two colours. A lot of reviews I read on it people disliked the sizing but not me! I bought it in a medium because I wanted it to be a little longer and flowy. I am 5ft 6in and 102lb, the sleeve length is perfect and the dress falls an inch above my knee. In other madewell items I usually wear xxs-xs in tops and 24 in pants. Overall I love this dress!

It’s very cute with good quality material !
The dress does run large (wide) which actually helps hide my tummy. I am only 5’3 and don’t find the dress too long. I chose XXS just in case. It’s very cute and comfortable.

Really, really, really love!
Such a cute dress/tunic -- only problem is that it has been unseasonably warm here in eastern North Carolina and i haven't been able to wear it yet. It's a beautifully done style in a great knit.

Perfect Sweater Dress
This is my first purchase from Madewell and the best sweater dress I’ve ever purchased! I have either sent them back or haven’t worn them because of the material or the fit. This one is beautifully made and fits perfectly for my x-large figure. It’s also very stylish for a woman over 50. I will definitely purchase again!

Warm and cozy dress
This dress is comfortable, cute and warm. Its a looser fit but I prefer a slightly looser fit with sweater dresses. I got the xxs and it’s perfect (5’1, 93 lbs). I also got it on sale which makes it a guilt- free purchase for me!

the dress is cute, but way too long-- it goes past my knees and is also a little baggy at the shoulders. Definitely get a size smaller than you think you need.

Bargain Dress
I really don’t understand the negative reviews for this dress. It’s a bargain and if you heed the advice of others and buy one size smaller, it’s a great deal. I went into the purchase viewing this as using this as a tunic sweater instead of a dress. I’m5’7”, 120 pounds and I purchased an extra small. I wear a long sleeve black T-shirt underneath and I pair it with black leggings and black suede ankle boots. I received tons of compliments on the dress. The buttons on the sleeve really make it unique. I have no doubt that women were googling where to find the dress.
