Perfect casual jacket
Love this jacket. It runs a little big, but you can easily layer it. It goes with everything. I love it. Definitely a staple piece.

Size up if you're tall
LOVE this jacket, however I wish Madewell made their jackets and outerwear in tall sizes. I'm 5'11 1/2, and I'm usually a 6/8 or medium at Madewell, but I had to size up to an XL get the oversized look in this jacket, and the sleeves are still a tad short. I almost ordered my regular size online, but I'm really glad I went in the store to try it on first. I suspect if you're "average" height this will run true to size for you, but if you're tall and you want a true over size look AND want to be able layer underneath, I'd suggest one to two sizes up.
